FECF develops community-centered initiatives in response to needs and opportunities across Ghana and the African diaspora. Our portfolio includes active signature initiatives, programs being prepared for launch, and emerging areas in which current community activities are informing long-term program development. Each initiative combines local leadership, diaspora expertise, education, strategic partnership, and resource mobilization to create sustainable community impact.
BLUE-GREEN COMMUNITIES
Building Healthier, Climate-Resilient Communities Across Ghana.
FECF's Blue-Green Communities Initiative advances community-centered responses to interconnected environmental, climate, and public-health challenges. The initiative brings together communities, technical experts, government, the private sector, and the Ghanaian diaspora to strengthen flood resilience, protect water systems, improve preparedness, and turn environmental challenges into opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and enterprise.
JOIN THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Blue-Green Communities is building a network of experts in flood resilience, water systems, environmental science, public health, climate adaptation, sustainable enterprise, and related fields. Members may advise on strategy, research, community engagement, and future projects.
COMMUNITY HEALTH ACCESS
Connecting Communities to Prevention, Education, Resources, and Care.
FECF currently supports community health fairs, health education, screening access, resource distribution, and emerging sickle cell engagement in partnership with health professionals and community institutions. These activities are informing the development of a sustainable, community-centered health-access strategy for Ghana and the diaspora.
BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE HEALTH MODEL
FECF is working to connect its individual health activities through consistent community data collection, referral pathways, professional partnerships, and follow-up. This foundation will help transform periodic activities into a coordinated health-access initiative with measurable, long-term community impact.
FORWARD ECONOMIC MOBILITY
Building Pathways from Learning to Earning.
FECF is developing a culturally responsive economic-mobility initiative for low- to moderate-income African immigrant entrepreneurs, working families, and financially underserved households in the United States. The proposed model combines virtual learning with trusted community-based delivery through churches, chambers of commerce, business networks, financial institutions, and technical-assistance partners.
STARTING WITH A PRACTICAL PILOT
While FECF pursues funding for the full initiative, initial activities will focus on targeted virtual masterclasses, partner listening sessions, resource navigation, and small-business education. These activities will help FECF validate community needs, strengthen its delivery partnerships, and build the evidence required for a larger multi-city program.
DIASPORA GOVERNANCE & CAMPAIGN INSTITUTE
Governance Is Service.
The Diaspora Governance & Campaign Institute, or DGCI, is FECF's proposed nonpartisan civic-leadership pipeline for emerging public servants, grassroots organizers, civic leaders, and aspiring candidates. FECF is currently developing the Institute's partnerships, faculty network, curriculum, and inaugural cohort model.
DEMOCRACY IN PRACTICE
Initial DGCI activities will focus on public conversations, practical civic-leadership workshops, mentorship, and community-centered governance. These activities will help build the participant, faculty, and partner network required for a future cohort-based leadership program.
COMMUNITY CIVIC PARTICIPATION
FECF provides nonpartisan education to help diaspora and underserved communities understand how elections, the Census, and public institutions affect representation, public resources, and community life. Activities may include town halls, digital education, community outreach, voter-information resources, and youth engagement.
IMMIGRATION LEGAL SUPPORT
Reliable Information. Culturally Responsive Resources. Qualified Referrals.
FECF is updating its Immigration Legal Support initiative to connect Ghanaian and African immigrant communities with reliable legal information, culturally responsive resources, and referrals to qualified immigration attorneys. Current priorities include rebuilding FECF's participating attorney network, establishing recurring immigration-information sessions, and updating community referral resources.
PARTICIPATING ATTORNEY NETWORK
FECF is inviting qualified immigration attorneys to identify the types of matters they handle, the jurisdictions they serve, languages spoken, and whether they may offer pro bono, reduced-fee, or introductory consultations. The network will help FECF make more informed community referrals while respecting each attorney's availability and professional requirements.
